Shirakawago Observatory

Located on the Gifu Prefecture side of the Hakusan Shirakawa White Road, the Shirakawa Observatory is 1,230 meters above Hakusan level and is a spectacular spot from which you can see the World Heritage Site of Shirakawa -go's Gassho-style villages, the Hakusan mountain range, and even the Tateyama range on a clear day. In autumn, seas of clouds are likely to appear, and the gates open one hour earlier from late September to late October, during the "Autumn Morning Time." The observation deck is barrier-free, with ramps and multi-purpose toilets, and is designed with wheelchair users and families in mind.
